Olonets district

Olonets district was located in the southwestern part of the Olonets province. The district town was Olonets.
Blacksmithing was the original occupation of the inhabitants of the Olonets Territory.
It was in Karelia in the 17th - 18th centuries. the first ironworks were built (Ustretsky, Foimogubsky, Lizhemsky, Spirovsky, Kedrozersky). In 1703 the foundation of a plant took place, which became known as the Shuisky Arms Plant (later renamed Petrovsky), which gave rise to the city of Petrozavodsk.
